About

Formed in 1984, San Luis Obispo Master Chorale (originally known as Cuesta Master Chorale) is an auditioned all-volunteer community choir that specializes in performing masterworks of choral-orchestral literature from every musical period and style, including contemporary works written especially for the chorale.

Philosophy:
San Luis Obispo Master Chorale adds beauty to the world by presenting concerts of inspiring masterworks, which touch the hearts and souls of listeners. Singers and other musicians come together with a mutual love of music and its capacity to fill the heart and soul with joy. Our ensemble offers the emotional expressiveness that only the human voice can communicate. We delight in sharing our talent and passion for music with the sophisticated audiences of the central coast.

Mission:
We are dedicated to excellence in performing masterworks, providing opportunity for both choir and audience to participate in and savor the richness of the musical experience.

Goals:
San Luis Obispo Master Chorale is committed to these three major goals:

  • Performing concerts of the highest artistic quality through musical growth and development of its members.
  • Connecting with the community to expand our diverse, appreciative and loyal audience and to educate younger singers about the art and opportunity of choral ensemble singing.
  • Ensuring sustainability of the chorale into the future.

2014_06_500x384Dear Music Enthusiasts,

Welcome to the San Luis Obispo Master Chorale’s 33rd Concert Season!

We’re thrilled that our new season is underway. We have put together an excellent schedule, which includes: SLOMC’s joining with Opera San Luis Obispo for a “Citywide Arts Collaboration Grand Gala”; another collaboration with Cal Poly Choirs for the San Luis Obispo Symphony’s final concert of their 2015-16 season, a performance of Gustav Mahler’s incredible Symphony #2, “The Resurrection Symphony”; and our final performance of the season – a performance of Joseph Haydn’s “Lord Nelson Mass” and Handel’s “Dettingen Te Deum”.

We do hope you will be with us for these exciting events.

Cheers,

San Luis Obispo Master Chorale
