James Davis picJames D. Davis, MPA, a San Francisco native, grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he attended a variety of art and cultural events and performances, which helped shape his lifelong appreciation for and support of the arts. After being hired to launch a new foster family agency in 2003, James and his family moved to the central coast. Operating a growing nonprofit organization provided James with the challenges to increase fund-raising efforts in order to support expansion of agency operations and programs. He became involved with the local music and arts community and began to develop, promote and manage unique and successful music and cultural events. He served on the board of the Morro Bay Harbor Festival and was called upon to produce and manage festival entertainment on three different stages. For the San Luis Obispo Master Chorale, he brings his skills with event production, integrated marketing, sponsorship development and nonprofit management.

In 2010 James founded James D. Davis Productions and Festival After Dark. He and his team have produced and managed musical entertainment for Savor the Central Coast (sponsored by Sunset Magazine) and the annual Sunset Celebration Weekend event. As a military veteran, James has been actively involved in developing and managing events supporting veterans, including the annual Veterans Express Shuttle Benefit Concert. During the past six years James has provided event planning and management, fund development, integrated marketing and consulting services for numerous local organizations including the SLO Noor Foundation, United Cerebral Palsy and Ride On Transportation of San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay 4th Inc., Morro Bay Chamber of Commerce, Estero Bay Community Radio and the Paso Robles Youth Arts Foundation. He has earned a master’s in public administration and brings valuable leadership skills and connections to our organization.
