Celebrating the Central Coast

The San Luis Obispo Master Chorale with Brynn Albanese, violin, perform great treasures of our central coast. You can get up-close with “Old Granddad” in the Pavilion. There, you will be treated to a wonderful talk by Eva Soltes, Director of the Harrison House in Joshua Tree, about Lou Harrison and his relationship with the Central Coast. Brynn Albanese and the Gamelan percussionists then follow with a sparkling performance of Harrison’s “Suite for Violin with American Gamelan”. This music is filled with dances whose origins are Spanish and Indian (Asia). An incredible work. Great soaring melodies!!

San Luis Obispo Master Chorale performs in Spring 2018 at the Performing Arts Center Pavilion.

“Old Granddad” has seven “bass” aluminum key gongs with large cylindrical resonators attached and seven metal oxygen tanks.

This American Gamelan traveled all the way from Bostong to be with us this weekend at the Performing Arts Center.
